Khyber Policeman Critically Injured in Khawarij Attack

A senior policeman, Fazal-ur-Rahman Afridi, from Qambar Khel tribe, was critically injured on Sunday in a targeted shooting by khawarij  in Bara Tehsil of Khyber District.

According to official sources, Afridi sustained serious injuries and was initially rushed to Dogra Hospital for emergency care. He was later shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar for advanced treatment due to the severity of his condition.

Fazal Rehman is widely known in the region not only as a dedicated police officer but also as a scholastic personality with significant contributions to literature. Locals revere him for his intellectual work, and his writings have earned him a place of respect across Khyber and beyond.

Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the attack, which is believed to be part of a growing pattern of militant violence in the tribal areas. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the shooting.

Authorities and residents alike have condemned the attack and expressed hopes for Afridi’s speedy recovery.
