In Tirah Valley, specifically in the Bar Qambar Khel Durbi Khel area, a police officer was freed from a siege by Khawarij after the Qaumi Jirga’s timely intervention. The officer had been surrounded in his own home by militants from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who sought to hold him hostage.
Abdul Razzaq, a police officer from Bar Qambar Khel Durbi Khel Sarwan, had returned home on leave when armed TTP militants surrounded his residence and held him captive. The Qaumi Jirga and local elders swiftly mobilized in response to the situation and initiated negotiations with the militants.
The elders reminded the militants that such an action not only violated the peace agreement between them but also breached the sacred values of family privacy and the protection of women, which would not be tolerated under any circumstances. The Qaumi Jirga’s firm stance led to the militants agreeing to end the siege and release Abdul Razzaq.
Following his release, the officer was safely transported to the Tirah Valley Police Station. While the event sparked strong anger and concern in the community, locals praised the Qaumi Jirga for their quick and effective response in resolving the situation and ensuring the officer’s safety.
This incident highlights the importance of local leadership and community solidarity in preventing violence and maintaining peace in areas like Tirah Valley, where militant presence remains a constant challenge.
