In a shocking act of brutality, terrorists believed to be affiliated with the Fitna al-Khawarij, the outlawed militant group usually known as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), have beheaded an innocent civilian in the Lower South Waziristan district, reportedly in retaliation for recent successful operations by Pakistani security forces.
According to local sources, the decapitated body of Kamran, son of Muhajir from the Khojal Khel tribe, was found in the Khumrang Doy Khula area near Wana. Kamran, a resident of the same locality, had been abducted by militants a day earlier. His body was discovered early Friday morning.
The incident has sparked widespread fear and outrage among local residents, who are calling on the government and security agencies to launch a final and decisive crackdown against what they describe as “enemies of the state, the nation, and humanity.”
“The public can no longer live under this constant threat. These elements must be rooted out once and for all,” a local elder told reporters, requesting anonymity due to security concerns.
So far, no statement has been released by the militant group regarding the motive behind Kamran’s murder. The victim had no known affiliations with any security or political organisation, raising further concerns about the indiscriminate nature of such attacks.
This horrific act comes just days after a statement from the Pakistan Army confirmed that 35 militants were killed during intelligence-based operations between August 10 and September 13 in South Waziristan and Bajaur districts. Of those, 22 were killed in Bajaur and 13 in South Waziristan. The operations also resulted in the martyrdom of 12 Pakistani soldiers.
Separately, a multi-day operation in the Dir district was also concluded, where 10 militants were killed and seven soldiers lost their lives in the line of duty.
Security has been tightened in the region following the incident, and investigations are underway.
