Khawarij Assault on Hangu Police Station Foiled by Security Forces

Security forces successfully repelled an attack by Khawarij elements on the Baggatu Police Station in District Hangu on Tuesday, demonstrating swift coordination and resilience in the face of a coordinated assault.

According to official sources, a group of heavily armed Khawarij launched an attack on the police facility in the early hours of April 15. Alert and well-prepared police personnel responded immediately, engaging the attackers and preventing any breach of the station’s perimeter. Their rapid and decisive action ensured that the assailants failed to achieve their objective of seizing control of the installation.

Following the initial engagement, reinforcements comprising personnel from the Police, Frontier Corps (North) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) were promptly deployed to the area. A comprehensive clearance operation was initiated to secure the vicinity and eliminate any remaining threats.

Preliminary reports indicate that security forces have neutralized approximately seven to eight Khawarij affiliated with a banned outfit during the ongoing operation. Efforts are currently underway to track and apprehend fleeing elements, with security units maintaining a tight cordon around the area to prevent escape.

Officials on the ground confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored, and the operation will continue until the area is fully cleared and declared secure. No major damage to security installations has been reported, owing to the timely and effective response by law enforcement personnel.
