One terrorist was killed and two others reportedly escaped during a joint operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and a federal intelligence agency in Khudadad Colony, Karachi according to CTD sources.
The operation was launched after security personnel received information regarding the presence of suspected terrorists near the Football Ground in Khudadad Colony. The raid was conducted during the night between Sunday and Monday. According to preliminary information, as CTD personnel and officials of the federal intelligence agency approached the reported location, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the security team.
Security personnel responded to the firing and took defensive positions before returning fire against the suspects. During the ensuing exchange of fire, one of the suspected terrorists sustained serious injuries. Security personnel subsequently attempted to transport the injured suspect to a hospital for medical treatment. However, according to the available information, the suspect succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
His body was subsequently shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal formalities and further investigation.
While one suspect was critically injured and later died, two other suspected terrorists reportedly managed to escape from the scene during the operation. Security personnel are continuing efforts to trace the fleeing suspects, while further investigation is underway to determine their identities, affiliations and possible involvement in terrorist activities. The escape of the two suspects has prompted continued investigative efforts to establish their whereabouts and determine whether they were part of a wider network operating in the area.
According to CTD sources, the deceased suspect was believed to be associated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The suspect reportedly identified himself as Matiullah while in an injured condition. However, authorities have not yet completed the formal identification process. CTD officials are reportedly conducting biometric verification to establish his identity conclusively. Authorities are expected to examine the suspect’s background and possible links with other individuals or networks as part of the ongoing investigation.
A 9mm pistol along with ammunition was reportedly recovered from the deceased suspect. Security personnel also recovered additional spent ammunition casings from the scene, which are expected to be examined as part of the forensic investigation. The recovered weapon and other evidence could assist investigators in determining the nature of the suspects’ activities and reconstructing the circumstances surrounding the exchange of fire.
