At least four terrorists were eliminated after security forces and police successfully repulsed a terrorist attack on the Khazina Check Post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, according to security sources.
The terrorists launched an assault on the check post in an apparent attempt to overrun the security position. Personnel stationed at the post responded immediately, engaging the attackers in a fierce exchange of gunfire and forcing them to retreat.
Sources said four terrorists were eliminated during the operation, while several others sustained injuries. The surviving terrorists were reportedly attempting to flee the area while carrying their wounded accomplices.
Security forces and police have since encircled the fleeing terrorists, and a clearance operation remains underway to eliminate the remaining attackers and prevent their escape. Reinforcements have also been deployed to tighten the cordon and search nearby areas where the terrorists are believed to be hiding.
Officials said the prompt and coordinated response by security forces and police thwarted the terrorists’ objectives, preventing them from causing damage to the check post or inflicting casualties on security personnel.
The latest attack comes amid an intensified counterterrorism campaign across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where intelligence-based operations and enhanced security measures continue to target terrorist networks and disrupt their ability to launch attacks against security installations and civilians. Authorities have reiterated their resolve to pursue the fleeing terrorists until the operation is brought to its logical conclusion.
