Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar today, where he received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security environment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, border management measures and the operational preparedness of formations deployed across the province.
Upon arrival at Corps Headquarters, the COAS & CDF was received by the Commander Peshawar Corps.
During the visit, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was briefed on the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with particular focus on the operational environment and measures being undertaken to counter the threat of terrorism.
The briefing also covered ongoing counter-terrorism operations, border management initiatives and the preparedness of formations deployed throughout the province.
The COAS & CDF was apprised of the operational posture of the formations, their readiness to respond to emerging security challenges and measures being undertaken to maintain effective security and stability in the region.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir commended the high morale, operational readiness and professionalism demonstrated by officers and troops deployed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He acknowledged their steadfast commitment to protecting the country and its people and appreciated the dedication being demonstrated by personnel performing their duties under challenging operational conditions.
The COAS & CDF emphasised the importance of maintaining the highest standards of preparedness and directed formations to remain vigilant and fully prepared to respond to evolving security threats.
He stressed that continued vigilance, professional excellence and operational readiness remain essential to effectively meeting the security challenges confronting the country.
During his interaction with officers and troops, the COAS & CDF reiterated the resolve of Pakistan’s Armed Forces to confront terrorism and safeguard the country’s peace and security.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir emphasised that the Armed Forces, with the unwavering support of the nation, remain resolute in their determination to defeat terrorism and contribute towards establishing lasting peace and stability across the country.
He underscored the importance of maintaining a high state of preparedness while continuing to discharge operational responsibilities with discipline, professionalism and determination.
During his visit, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also visited Yadgar-e-Shuhada, where he laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha in honour of the martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland and in the fight against terrorism.
The COAS & CDF paid rich tribute to the supreme sacrifices of the nation’s Shuhada, recognising their courage, devotion and unwavering commitment to the defence of Pakistan.
He reaffirmed that the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in the line of duty would never be forgotten, and that their legacy would continue to inspire the nation’s Armed Forces in the discharge of their responsibilities.
