Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Army Chief, emphasized the need to eradicate extremist ideologies and distorted interpretations of Islam during his official visit to Egypt.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit aims to strengthen military and defence cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt — two brotherly Islamic nations committed to regional peace and stability.

During the visit, Field Marshal Munir met with Egypt’s Minister of Defence and Military Production, General Abdul Majeed Saqr, and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa Fathi. The meetings were focused on regional security, counterterrorism, and enhancing bilateral defence collaboration.

Upon arrival at Egypt’s Ministry of Defence, Field Marshal Munir was presented with a Guard of Honour. He also laid floral wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the grave of former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat.

Later, Field Marshal Munir called on Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb of Al-Azhar University. Both leaders discussed challenges facing the Muslim world, with Field Marshal Munir highlighting the importance of unity and the rejection of extremist narratives to promote peace and harmony across the Islamic world.
