FC HQ Attack: KP Police Make Significant Progress, Suspects Likely Afghan Nationals, Says IG

Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Zulfiqar Hamid, has announced significant progress in the investigation into the recent attack on the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in Peshawar. Preliminary findings indicate that all three attackers are likely Afghan nationals.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, IG Zulfiqar Hamid stated that images of the three attackers have been recovered, and their fingerprints have been sent to NADRA for verification. Investigations have successfully traced the attackers’ movements, including the routes they used to enter Peshawar and the location where they spent the night prior to the assault.

The motorcycle used by the attackers has been seized, and fingerprints collected from it are aiding the ongoing investigation. CCTV footage capturing the terrorists’ movements has also been obtained, and NADRA has commenced work on confirming their identities. While security forces continue to track the network of extremists linked to this attack, no facilitators or accomplices have yet been detained.

IG Zulfiqar Hamid emphasized that the KP Police are being equipped with modern technology, including anti-drone systems, to strengthen operational capabilities. Efforts are also underway to provide bulletproof vehicles to personnel from police stations up to officer-level units, along with other essential arms and equipment.

He added that recent intelligence indicates a shift in terrorist tactics and noted an increase in attacks across the province this year. However, thanks to proactive counterterrorism measures, security forces have successfully neutralized threats and prevented major incidents.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police remain fully committed to protecting citizens, safeguarding critical installations, and dismantling terrorist networks through intelligence-led operations and advanced security measures.
