Explosive Showdown in Bannu Ends with Death of Notorious Khariji Commander and Key Khawarij: ISPR

In a decisive intelligence-based counter-terrorism operation conducted on 19 April 2026 in Bannu District, Pakistan’s Security Forces successfully neutralized two khwarij affiliated with the Indian-sponsored Fitna-al-Khwarij network. The operation included the elimination of Kharji Ring leader Waheedullah, also known as Muktiar, along with an active suicide bomber. During the operation, a suicide vest, weapons, and ammunition were recovered from the site.

Waheedullah, listed among Pakistan’s most wanted terrorists, had played a central role in multiple acts of terrorism targeting both security forces and civilians. Notably, he orchestrated the suicide attack on 21 February 2026 in Bannu District, which led to the martyrdom of Lieutenant Colonel Gul Faraz Shaheed. The successful operation has brought this high-profile perpetrator to justice and served as a measure of retribution for his heinous acts. Furthermore, the timely intervention of security forces prevented a potential large-scale catastrophe.

The operation is part of a broader, relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under the strategic vision “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. Security Forces, in coordination with Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies, continue to conduct follow-up sanitization operations to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored khwarij in the area.

Authorities reaffirm their commitment to safeguarding the nation by decisively confronting and dismantling foreign-supported terrorist networks, ensuring the security of Pakistan’s citizens, and upholding the integrity of national institutions. The ongoing campaign underscores the unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s Security Forces to eradicate the menace of terrorism, leaving no space for extremist groups to operate.
