Former Afghan intelligence chief Masoud Andarabi has raised serious concerns over alleged links between India, the Taliban regime, and Fitna al-Khawarij, claiming that these connections are contributing to increased security challenges in the region.
Speaking during a programme by The Diplomat, Andarabi alleged that the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan have been receiving financial support from India while providing backing and facilitation to armed groups operating against Pakistan. He further claimed that, following setbacks faced by India during the Marka-e-Haq conflict, New Delhi has been seeking to expand its influence in Afghanistan to pursue strategic objectives against Pakistan.
According to Andarabi, India’s engagement with the Taliban is aimed at gaining leverage over Fitna al-Khawarij and using its influence to further regional agendas. He stated that the alleged support networks and safe havens available to hostile groups remain a major concern for Pakistan’s security environment.
The former Afghan intelligence chief further highlighted that Pakistan’s strikes against alleged terrorist hideouts inside Afghanistan serve as a clear message regarding its security concerns and determination to safeguard its territory. He stated that the reported presence of Fitna al-Khawarij elements in Afghanistan and their alleged use of Afghan soil for cross-border activities have remained a key factor behind tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban authorities.
Security analysts have viewed these remarks as reinforcing Pakistan’s longstanding position that hostile elements are exploiting Afghan territory to conduct activities against Pakistan. Islamabad has repeatedly urged Afghan authorities to take effective measures against militant networks and prevent the use of Afghan soil for attacks against neighbouring countries.
Experts note that regional security dynamics remain complex, with the presence of armed groups, external influences, and unresolved security challenges continuing to impact stability in the region. They emphasize the need for coordinated efforts, effective border management, and decisive action against groups involved in violent activities.
Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and protecting its citizens from cross-border threats. Authorities maintain that operations against hostile elements and efforts to dismantle terrorist networks will continue with full resolve.
