Targeted Operation Launched Against Militants in Bajaur; Curfew Imposed Across Multiple Areas in Bajaur

In a decisive move to eliminate terrorist elements and restore lasting peace in the region, the security forces have launched a targeted counterterrorism operation across Bajaur district. As part of this operation, the Deputy Commissioner of Bajaur has imposed a three-day curfew from July 29 to July 31 in several areas identified through intelligence reports as potential militant hideouts.

According to an official notification issued by the district administration, the curfew aims to facilitate precision-based security actions to encircle and neutralize terrorist elements. All vehicular and pedestrian movement has been strictly prohibited during the curfew, and residents have been instructed to remain indoors.

The curfew-affected areas include Badisiah, Tarkho, Erab, Gat, Agra, Khworchay, Dawaogai, Kalan, Laghrai, Katkot, Gelye, Nakhtar, Zari, Dumbarey, Amanta, and Zagai. Security forces will be conducting targeted search and clearance operations in these locations over the next three days.

“This action is being carried out in the national interest, and its sole objective is to secure innocent lives and dismantle networks of violence,” said an official of the district administration. Intelligence inputs have indicated the presence of militant groups involved in recent acts of terrorism in the region.

The administration has issued an urgent appeal to the public to fully cooperate with the security forces, remain inside their homes, and immediately report any suspicious activity. “Public cooperation is vital for the success of this operation and the establishment of sustainable peace,” the statement emphasized.

The targeted operation comes in the wake of rising terrorist incidents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tribal districts. Bajaur and Bannu have witnessed a surge in attacks on law enforcement personnel and civilians. In some areas, militants from the banned outfit Fitna al-Khawarij have resorted to quadcopter drone strikes on civilian populations—underscoring the evolving threat landscape.

The Deputy Commissioner has reaffirmed that all necessary emergency services remain on alert, and citizens in need of urgent assistance will be accommodated through designated channels. The administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the protection of innocent lives and restoring lasting peace in the region.
