Peshawar’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) successfully neutralised three militants during a precise operation, while two others managed to escape, according to security sources.

Authorities had received credible intelligence indicating that a group of hostile elements was present near Zangli Canal towards Shamshu, within the jurisdiction of Badaber police station, allegedly planning a major sabotage operation. In response, CTD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams were deployed to the location. Upon arrival, the militants opened fire on the police party, prompting a return of fire in self-defence.

The exchange resulted in three militants being killed on the spot, while two others fled. A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of the three bodies, along with three Kalashnikov rifles and nine magazines, underscoring the operational success of the CTD teams.

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, along with the Additional IG CTD, commended the department’s personnel for their professionalism and swift action. They emphasised that such operations are crucial for safeguarding lives and property, and assured that counter-terrorism efforts against hostile elements would continue with increased intensity.
