Four terrorists affiliated with the internationally proscribed organization Fitna al-Khwarij were eliminated during a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in Badaber, Peshawar, following intelligence reports about the movement of armed terrorists in the area.
According to the details, CTD Peshawar had received information regarding the presence and movement of armed Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists in Badaber. Earlier, Fitna al-Khwarij commander Tahir alias Muawiya, a resident of Shakas in Khyber district, had reportedly been spotted moving around the area along with other associates.
The group was allegedly involved in efforts to spread terror, challenge the writ of the state and target members of the public and affluent individuals.
Acting on the intelligence, CTD Peshawar constituted special SWAT teams and deployed them at potential entry and exit routes in the area to intercept and arrest the terrorists.
During the operation, two motorcycles carrying suspected individuals were signaled to stop. Instead of complying, the suspects abandoned their motorcycles and opened fire on the police party.
CTD personnel returned fire in self-defence and to apprehend the terrorists. The exchange of fire continued for approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
After the firing stopped, security personnel launched a search operation at the site and surrounding areas. Four terrorists were found eliminated, while other terrorists managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
The identities of the eliminated terrorists are being ascertained.
Weapons, Afghan Tazkira Recovered
Three submachine guns, a pistol, a hand grenade, mobile phones, three magazines and multiple rounds of ammunition were recovered from the eliminated terrorists and taken into police custody.
During the search, an Afghan tazkira was also recovered from the pocket of one of the eliminated terrorists. The document was issued in the name of Aman Khan, son of Ali Khan, a resident of Kunar, Afghanistan.
The photograph on the tazkira matches the eliminated terrorist. The document has been secured for further verification and legal proceedings.
The two motorcycles allegedly used by the terrorists were also taken into police custody.
The Bomb Disposal Unit and Crime Scene Unit were called to the site to collect evidence and conduct the required technical examination. Teams from both units reached the area and began the necessary procedures.
Meanwhile, a search operation remains underway in Badaber to track down and apprehend the terrorists who escaped from the scene.
The successful operation highlights the role of intelligence-led policing and specialized CTD teams in disrupting terrorist networks attempting to establish a presence in and around Peshawar.
Authorities have reiterated their resolve to continue indiscriminate action against terrorists and their facilitators to protect the lives and property of citizens and prevent attempts to undermine peace and the writ of the state in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
