Contradictory Claims Highlight Divisions in Baloch Ranks

Divergent claims have emerged among Baloch organizations regarding the case of Sohaib Baloch, also known as Amir Bakhsh, who was reportedly linked with militant activities. The banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has described his death as a “sacrifice,” portraying him as part of its militant struggle. In contrast, the Baloch National Movement (BNM) and certain socialist circles have voiced concern over his disappearance and the events that followed, underscoring divisions within various groups over how such incidents are framed.

Sohaib Baloch first came to wider attention when a photograph surfaced showing him alongside social activist Dr. Mahrang Baloch. During an earlier episode of his arrest by police, Dr. Mahrang staged a demonstration demanding his release, vowing not to end her protest until he was freed.

The controversy surrounding Sohaib Baloch highlights once again the conflicting narratives promoted by different factions, each seeking to advance its own political or militant agenda, further exposing the lack of unity within separatist ranks.
