Reports circulating on social media alleging that innocent laborers were targeted in a firing incident in Gwadar have been rejected as false by authorities.
According to official and verified information, the claim does not reflect the ground situation. Authorities stated that the narrative being spread online is misleading and part of a recurring pattern of misinformation.
Officials noted that such fake claims, fake narratives and fabricated incidents are routinely circulated by certain social media accounts linked with India- and Afghanistan-based information networks. They added that these accounts frequently attempt to distort security-related developments, but ground realities remain unchanged, with security forces continuing operations against armed and smuggling-linked elements.
Security sources clarified that the incident being referred to is associated with an area long known for illicit cross-border activity and security operations against such networks. They rejected any suggestion that civilians or laborers were deliberately targeted.
Authorities further urged the public to avoid sharing unverified content and to rely only on confirmed official sources for accurate information regarding security incidents.
They also reiterated that the spread of false narratives on social media is a common tactic used to create confusion but stressed that security forces remain actively engaged and effective on the ground.
Similar false claims circulating recently, including alleged incidents in Kharan and reports of strikes on civilian infrastructure in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, including a university dormitory, have also been officially rejected as baseless and part of coordinated propaganda efforts.
