CJCSC Enhances Defence Cooperation with Türkiye, Azerbaijan at 17th IDEF in Istanbul

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza represented Pakistan at the 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) in Istanbul, where he held a series of high-level meetings aimed at strengthening strategic defence partnerships and expanding bilateral military cooperation with key regional allies.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza held separate meetings with Türkiye’s Minister of National Defence General (Retd) Yasar Guler, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Defence Minister Mr. Agil Salim oglu Gurbanov, and Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Metin Gürak.

The discussions focused on deepening defence and security collaboration amid shifting regional and global security dynamics. Both sides underscored the importance of enhancing military-to-military ties, with a renewed commitment to joint efforts in counterterrorism, defence production, training, and technological cooperation.

The dignitaries appreciated the professionalism, operational excellence, and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in the global fight against terrorism. They acknowledged Pakistan’s pivotal role in promoting peace and stability across the region and beyond.

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to robust defence diplomacy and strategic engagement with brotherly countries, particularly Türkiye and Azerbaijan. The meetings reflected a shared resolve to align military cooperation with future geo-strategic realities and evolving technological advancements.

The IDEF, regarded as one of the world’s leading platforms for showcasing cutting-edge defence innovations, brought together global stakeholders to explore avenues of collaboration, technology sharing, and security partnerships.
