China Reaffirms Ironclad Support for Pakistan’s Sovereignty in High-Level Talks

In a significant diplomatic engagement in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured Pakistan of China’s steadfast support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The assurance came during a meeting with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who is currently on an official visit to China.

Wang Yi emphasized that China stands firmly with Pakistan in protecting its national interests and supports efforts to resolve regional disputes through peaceful dialogue. “China supports Pakistan and India in working towards lasting peace and welcomes efforts to resolve differences through talks,” Wang stated. He further added that China is committed to promoting a comprehensive and durable ceasefire and encourages the search for long-term solutions to regional tensions.

Beyond geopolitical issues, the Chinese Foreign Minister called for deeper bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as industry, agriculture, energy, and mineral resources, and emphasized the need for stronger collaboration in counter-terrorism efforts.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also met with Yu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China. Both sides agreed to strengthen inter-party relations and foster deeper ties between political institutions of the two nations.

Ishaq Dar expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and core interests, calling China a true and reliable partner. In return, Yu Jianchao reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship, describing China as “Pakistan’s iron brother” and pledging to continue prioritising ties with Islamabad.

The meetings underscore the depth of the China-Pakistan strategic partnership, especially amid evolving regional dynamics and shared economic and security interests.
