Bannu Resident Publicly Disowns Son Over Terrorist Links, Seeks Protection for Family

A resident of Bannu, belonging to Greera Shah Jahan area, has publicly announced complete disassociation from his son over alleged militant links and appealed to authorities to ensure protection for his family and property.

Speaking at a press conference at the Bannu Press Club, local resident Ajab Noor, along with his other sons, said he was formally announcing that he has severed all ties with his son Ahmed Hussain.

Ajab Noor stated that his son had “rebelled” against the family and joined a banned organization. He said he works abroad as a laborer and returned home immediately after being informed that his son had become involved with militants. According to him, he made serious efforts to counsel and bring his son back from that path, but the young man was not willing to abandon the militant ideology.

He emphasized that his family is a respectable and peaceful, lower-middle-class household, and said local residents, security agencies, and government representatives could verify that the family has no connection with any illegal activity.

Ajab Noor further appealed that the actions of his son should not result in any punishment, harassment, or damage to the property or assets of the rest of the family. He announced that the family has formally disowned Ahmed Hussain and will have no further contact with him.

He added, “He left home about a month ago. Now it is between him and the government, but our remaining children, family, and property should not face any harm.”

During the press conference, he also urged the government, law enforcement agencies, and intelligence institutions to take notice of his appeal and ensure protection for his family.
