Security forces and police conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in Shad Khan Kalla village on the outskirts of Jani Khel in Bannu district after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of terrorists.
According to details, the operation targeted a terrorist hideout, resulting in the elimination of nine terrorists, while one was reported to be critically injured.
Security sources said the eliminated terrorists were linked to the recent terrorist attack on the Fateh Khel police station and had been under active surveillance by law enforcement agencies.
The operation comes amid a recent escalation in terrorist activity in the region, including quadcopter attacks on civilians in Bannu’s Jani Khel area, where women and children were among those injured in strikes on residential locations. The overlapping incidents highlight an evolving security pattern involving both targeted attacks on civilians and subsequent counterterrorism operations against linked networks.
Following the latest action, clearance operations are continuing in the area to track down any remaining facilitators and fleeing terrorists connected to the group.
Officials said the operation is being conducted under the national counterterrorism framework and ongoing efforts under broader security initiatives aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure and support networks across the region.
