Bannu Operation Foils Major Plot: 6 Khawarij Killed, 6 Jawans Martyred, Over 10 Injured

Bannu, Khawarij, Fitna al-Khawarij

Security forces and Bannu police successfully foiled a major plot by the terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij in Bannu today. When the attackers attempted their assault, security personnel responded decisively, forcing the Khawarij to retreat into a compound, prompting a clearance operation involving the Pakistan Army, commandos, police, and the Federal Constabulary.

In the joint operation, six Khawarij were killed, and sources indicate that more bodies may be recovered from under the rubble of the building.

Tragically, six security personnel lost their lives in the line of duty while over ten others were injured during the operation, including an officer of the Special Services Group and a few Pakistan Army soldiers.

According to officials, the Khawarij had planned a massive attack, but the brave efforts of security forces thwarted their plans at great personal risk.

Sources further revealed that the attackers had been in constant contact with their handlers in Afghanistan, once again exposing the hollow claims and promises of the Afghan Taliban.

Notably, in the past month, no attack by these Khawarij have succeeded, largely due to the reach of Pakistani intelligence agencies into extremist networks. Recent clashes in Afghanistan between Gul Bahadur and Noor Wali groups resulted in heavy losses on both sides. Similarly, in the border region of Sambaza in Balochistan, 53 kharij were eliminated before crossing the border, thanks to intelligence tips.

The failure of today’s attack was also due to prior intelligence about the suicide bomber. As soon as the Khawarij attempted their strike, they were isolated and neutralized. These repeated setbacks have reportedly left Noor Wali and other extremist commanders unsettled. Security forces and intelligence agencies remain prepared to continue thwarting any future plots.
