Security forces and police eliminated three terrorists during an intelligence-based operation against a terrorist group in the Domel area of Bannu, while four improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were successfully neutralized, officials said.
According to the District Police Officer (DPO), security personnel conducted the operation after receiving information about the presence and movement of terrorists in the area.
The operation resulted in the elimination of three terrorists, while four IEDs were detected and safely defused before they could be used against security personnel or civilians.
The successful disposal of the explosives is considered significant as IEDs remain one of the major threats faced by security forces operating in militancy-affected areas, where such devices can be planted along roads, routes used by patrols and other potential targets.
The DPO said security forces and police remain engaged in intelligence-based operations to identify and eliminate terror networks in the district.
He further stated that 59 terrorists have been killed in various operations since he assumed charge, reflecting an intensified security campaign against militants operating in and around Bannu.
Security personnel have also continued search and intelligence-gathering activities in the area following the latest operation to determine whether any other terrorists or associates remain in hiding.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the identities or affiliations of the three terrorists neutralized in the operation.
