In a major search and strike operation aimed at strengthening security and dismantling the operational infrastructure of Fitna al-Khawarij, Lakki Marwat Police, in coordination with specialised law enforcement units, arrested four wanted Khawarij and destroyed multiple hideouts associated with Khawarij elements across several areas of the district on Sunday.
The daylong operation was led by District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada and simultaneously conducted in remote, rugged, and difficult-to-access areas falling within the jurisdictions of Lakki, Saddar, and Dadiwala police stations.
The extensive operation involved coordinated participation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Al-Barq, Elite Force, Rapid Response Force, and Bomb Disposal Unit, with armoured personnel carriers (APCs) deployed to support the participating teams and strengthen operational effectiveness.
Acting to disrupt the activities of Fitna al-Khawarij and prevent threats to public safety, law enforcement personnel carried out systematic searches of suspected Khawarij hideouts and closely monitored suspicious movements in the targeted areas.
The operation covered several locations identified as potential points of presence or activity of Khawarij elements, including Nawarkhel, Jabbarkhel, Wanda Mir Alam, Darra Tang, Wanda Daulati, Land Ahmadkhel, Sultankhel, Kachi Kamar, and Shenway.
Through coordinated ground operations and targeted searches, the participating teams arrested four wanted Khawarij and destroyed multiple hideouts associated with the group. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the hideouts, according to officials. Cases have been registered against the arrested Khawarij under the relevant provisions of law, while further legal proceedings will be conducted in accordance with established procedures.
A key feature of the operation was the use of advanced surveillance equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to monitor targeted areas from the air. These technological measures enabled law enforcement teams to maintain aerial oversight of sensitive locations, observe suspicious movements, and improve situational awareness throughout the operation.
The deployment of specialised personnel, armoured vehicles, and aerial surveillance capabilities reflected a coordinated operational approach designed to address security challenges in remote and geographically difficult terrain.
The participation of the CTD, Elite Force, Rapid Response Force, Al-Barq, and Bomb Disposal Unit further strengthened the operation’s capacity to conduct searches, respond to potential threats, and secure the targeted locations. The operation forms part of ongoing law enforcement efforts to identify and disrupt the activities of Fitna al-Khawarij, dismantle its support infrastructure, and prevent Khawarij elements from threatening the lives and property of local residents.
Lakki Marwat’s rugged terrain and dispersed settlements present operational challenges that require effective coordination, intelligence-led planning, and sustained vigilance. The simultaneous deployment of multiple specialised units enabled law enforcement personnel to conduct searches across several locations while maintaining operational coordination. The arrest of four wanted Khawarij, destruction of multiple Khawarij hideouts, and recovery of weapons and ammunition mark significant outcomes of the district-wide operation.
