AI-Generated Image Used to Push False Narrative After Karachi Attack

A propaganda account associated with Afghanistan has circulated a fabricated claim alleging that a former Pakistani soldier was forced to make a confession following the recent terrorist attack in Karachi, according to security sources monitoring online disinformation.

To support the claim, the account shared what it portrayed as an image of a Pakistan Army soldier. However, preliminary assessments indicate that the image was generated using artificial intelligence and contains multiple inconsistencies that undermine its authenticity.

According to security sources, the purported soldier’s uniform features a formation sign that does not exist in the Pakistan Army. In addition, the collar insignia shown in the image is inconsistent with Pakistan Army regulations, as collar dots are not used to identify a soldier’s regiment.

Officials said these discrepancies clearly indicate that the image was digitally manipulated or AI-generated and was designed to lend false credibility to an otherwise unverified claim.

The incident is being viewed as part of a broader disinformation campaign aimed at exploiting the aftermath of the Karachi terrorist attack by circulating fabricated content intended to mislead audiences and undermine public confidence.

Authorities have urged the public to verify information from credible sources before sharing unverified claims or images circulating on social media, particularly those involving national security or the armed forces.
