Afghan Taliban Government Silent Spectator to Militants, Exposing Its Weakness

The Afghan Taliban government has exposed its fragility by not even attempting to confront militant groups operating inside the country. While issuing hollow decrees asking its fighters not to operate outside Afghanistan and claiming to share intelligence with Pakistan under pressure, the regime has deliberately avoided taking action against groups that are few in number but destructive in impact.

This inaction highlights the reality that the Taliban government is unwilling or incapable of protecting Afghanistan in the long term. If they cannot challenge small militant factions today, how will they resist if former Afghan military elements or other armed groups rise against them tomorrow? Their silence and passivity only embolden militants further.

The danger grows if Pakistan decides to extend support or safe havens to anti-Taliban elements. In such a scenario, the Kabul regime’s already weak grip could collapse swiftly. The Taliban, already facing global isolation and economic crisis, have shown that they are content to watch militants operate freely rather than challenge them.

By choosing not to struggle at all, the Taliban government has paved the way for Afghanistan’s instability, weakening both its domestic control and its international credibility.
