Security forces successfully foiled an infiltration bid along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan District, killing a terrorist identified as an Afghan national.
According to security sources, the attempted infiltration took place from the Khost border, where terrorists tried to enter Pakistani territory under the cover of terrain and darkness. Troops responded swiftly, engaging the infiltrator in a targeted operation that resulted in his elimination.
The killed terrorist was identified as Rehmatullah, also known as Sabawoon. Further investigation revealed that he was a resident of Adin Khel village in the Zarmat district of Paktia Province.
Officials said the presence of Afghan nationals among infiltrating elements raises serious concerns about the continued use of Afghan soil by terrorist groups to launch attacks inside Pakistan. They added that such incidents reinforce Islamabad’s longstanding position regarding cross-border terrorism and the need for effective border management.
Security forces remain on high alert along the frontier, with intelligence-based operations being intensified to prevent further infiltration attempts. Authorities reiterated that any attempt to violate Pakistan’s sovereignty will be met with a swift and decisive response.
The latest incident is part of a broader pattern, as multiple infiltration bids in recent months across border districts have been foiled, underscoring the persistent threat posed by terrorist networks operating from across the border.
