The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government on Wednesday released harrowing statistics exposing the brutal face of Indian aggression, as unprovoked shelling by Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC) continues to target innocent civilians in a blatant violation of international law.
According to the official data, 32 civilians have been martyred and 164 others seriously injured as a result of India’s indiscriminate shelling on civilian settlements near the LoC. The relentless bombardment has also left a trail of destruction, with hundreds of homes and shops reduced to rubble and key infrastructure including schools and hospitals damaged.
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) reported that in Muzaffarabad division alone, 528 residential houses were damaged—63 of them completely destroyed—while 26 shops were leveled and 45 livestock animals were killed in the barbaric assault.
The SDMA further noted that assessment is ongoing and includes educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and other civilian structures damaged by India’s cowardly attacks on non-combatants.
In response, the Government of Pakistan has pledged Rs. 10 million in compensation for the families of each martyr, and Rs. 2 million to Rs. 1 million for those injured, depending on the severity of their wounds.
Officials said the figures may rise as data collection continues, and strongly condemned India’s systematic targeting of civilians as a war crime. The AJK government and people vowed to resist Indian belligerence and called on the international community to break its silence and hold India accountable for its crimes against humanity.
