In a decisive diplomatic move, China has officially renamed Arunachal Pradesh—currently under Indian control—as “Zangnan,” asserting it as an integral part of Chinese territory. The announcement, made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing, underscores China’s long-standing position that the region belongs to it historically, geographically, and administratively.
“This action falls entirely within China’s sovereign administrative rights and reflects efforts to reaffirm the region’s historical and cultural identity,” the ministry stated in a formal communiqué issued on Wednesday.
