Mushaal Mullick, the wife of jailed Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, has called for urgent international attention to the Kashmir issue, describing the current climate as the “ideal time” to push the dispute to the forefront of global diplomacy.
Addressing a press conference, Mushaal emphasized that Kashmir remains the core issue in South Asia, warning that unless addressed meaningfully, India will continue resorting to false flag operations. “Kashmir is not a domestic matter for India—it is a longstanding international dispute,” she stated.
She harshly criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that his track record shows a willingness to escalate conflicts, even toward nuclear brinkmanship, for electoral gains. “Modi suffered a major setback this time and is now unable to face the world,” she claimed.
Referring to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent offer to mediate, Mushaal said it reinforces that Kashmir is a multilateral issue and not a bilateral one. She welcomed the potential role of both the U.S. and China in facilitating dialogue, saying their involvement could be key to unlocking a peaceful resolution.
Mushaal also demanded the immediate release of all imprisoned Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders, and urged a review and rejection of the Simla Agreement, calling it outdated and ineffective in today’s geopolitical context.
Her statement comes a day after President Trump expressed a strong desire to help resolve the Kashmir dispute, tweeting his willingness to work with both India and Pakistan following their recent ceasefire agreement. “Let’s see if we can finally find a solution—perhaps after thousands of years,” Trump remarked.
