In a swift and courageous counter-terrorism response, Lakki Marwat police killed two Khawarij and wounded several others during an armed confrontation following the abduction of three local residents in the Landiwah area on Saturday.
According to Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu Sajad Khan, the incident began when khawarij kidnapped three civilians. Police units were immediately dispatched and successfully tracked the abductors. Upon confrontation, the terrorists opened fire, resulting in a brief but intense exchange in which one police officer sustained minor injuries. Under the leadership of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), the police force fought back decisively, killing two terrorists on the spot while injuring at least three more, who were seen being carried away by their comrades into the nearby mountainous terrain.
Following the shootout, District Police Officer (DPO) Jawad coordinated a joint search and rescue operation with Pakistan Army personnel. The operation led to the safe recovery of all three abducted civilians.
Officials noted that local peace committees actively supported law enforcement throughout the operation, aiding in intelligence and coordination on the ground.
Authorities have commended the professionalism and bravery of the Lakki Marwat police, who not only confronted a heavily armed threat but also ensured the eventual rescue of the hostages with the army’s support.
