Following Pakistan’s official rebuttals and critical analyses by platforms like NewsLaundry, global media outlets have now raised serious doubts over the Pahalgam attack, labelling it a potential false flag operation aimed at justifying hostilities against Pakistan and concealing internal failures of the Modi government.

A recent international investigative report challenges the Indian government’s narrative, stating that the Pahalgam incident has exposed the hollowness of Modi’s claims about peace in Kashmir. The report accuses Indian media of abandoning factual reporting and fuelling war hysteria by amplifying the government’s unverified allegations against Pakistan.

Instead of demanding accountability for a massive security failure in a heavily militarised zone, the Indian media is seen peddling emotional revenge rhetoric, thereby distracting public attention from legitimate questions about internal governance and intelligence lapses.

“Indian media has failed to ask hard questions,” the report notes. “It has not held Prime Minister Modi accountable for the repeated breaches of security, and instead, has turned into an echo chamber for state-sponsored anger.”

The report further examines the deteriorating human rights situation in Kashmir, pointing out that Modi’s move to abrogate Article 370 was part of a broader strategy to alter the region’s Muslim-majority demographic makeup. It states that BJP-led policies are encouraging non-Kashmiris to settle in the region, undermining its unique identity.

Experts cited in the report highlight an alarming increase in repression of journalists, arbitrary arrests, and targeted violence against locals, contradicting the Indian government’s narrative of normalcy.

“The Modi regime’s claim of peace in Kashmir is a facade,” one analyst said. “What exists on the ground is an atmosphere of fear, control, and systematic erasure.”

This wave of criticism — now extending beyond South Asia — underscores growing international awareness of India’s domestic propaganda tactics and their role in escalating regional tensions.
