A high-level delegation from the United States Political Mission, led by the Minister and Acting Deputy Head of Commission, called on Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Dr. Saif, in Peshawar, amid mounting regional tensions following the Pahalgam false flag operation.
The meeting focused on the worsening Pakistan-India situation, with Barrister Dr. Saif strongly rejecting India’s baseless accusations in the wake of the staged incident. He described Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s growing war hysteria as a dangerous diversionary tactic. “Modi’s reckless escalation is a threat not only to Pakistan but to the entire region’s stability,” Dr. Saif told the delegation.
Discussions also covered Pakistan’s internal political climate. Barrister Dr. Saif briefed the visiting officials on what he termed false and politically motivated cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and other political detainees, calling them an assault on democratic principles.
The broader law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the merged districts, was also reviewed. Barrister Dr. Saif reaffirmed the provincial government’s unwavering commitment to the uplift and integration of these areas. “The KP government is directing substantial resources toward peace, quality education, and accessible healthcare across the province, especially in the newly merged districts,” he said.
The US delegation praised the provincial government’s initiatives for public welfare and assured continued American support for development and governance reforms. They also expressed appreciation for the province’s stability efforts in a complex regional context.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation on regional peace, development, and the promotion of democratic values.
