Indian counter-terrorism expert Ajai Sahni has strongly criticised the Modi government over the recent Pahalgam attack, calling it a clear reflection of the country’s failed security policies.
Speaking to media in New Delhi, Sahni said the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists, is the result of “flawed strategy and political propaganda” by the ruling government. “This attack is not just a tragedy, it’s a symbol of how the Modi administration has turned national security into a political tool,” he said.
He further accused the Indian government of using the incident for political mileage, stating, “Modi is recycling the same playbook of false narratives as he did in Balakot and Pulwama — claims that eventually collapsed under scrutiny.”
Sahni also dismissed India’s claims of successful surgical strikes against Pakistan, emphasising that “there is not a single piece of verifiable evidence supporting those claims.” He pointed out that during the 2019 escalation, “India’s own aircraft was downed and the pilot captured — the facts speak for themselves.”
Echoing Sahni’s stance, other defence analysts called the Pahalgam incident a false flag operation gone wrong, saying it highlighted the Modi government’s inability to manage internal security and regional diplomacy. “Instead of presenting proof, India continues to resort to blame games. This not only weakens its credibility but also strengthens Pakistan’s narrative internationally,” they said.
The criticism comes as calls for independent investigations grow louder, with many urging international bodies to hold India accountable for manipulating security issues for political gain.
