”You Choose the Conflict, We Choose the Response” — Pakistan’s Warning to India

Pakistan, India, Conflict

Islamabad, Pakistan: In a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to counter any Indian aggression along the Line of Control (LoC). He emphasised that all necessary arrangements for a robust response have been completed.

Pahlgam Attack: A False-Flag Operation

Major General Chaudhry addressed the recent attack in Pehlgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, labelling it a “false-flag operation” orchestrated by India. He pointed out the rapid sequence of events following the incident, including the immediate registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and swift attribution of the attack to Pakistan. He questioned how authorities could travel a minimum 30-minute route in just 10 minutes and return to the scene promptly, suggesting a premeditated plan.

The ISPR chief also noted the use of identical social media accounts for both the Pehlgam attack and the Jaffar Express incident, indicating a coordinated propaganda effort. He criticised the portrayal of the attackers as Muslims, stating, “Terrorists have no religion.”

Pakistan’s Military Preparedness

Major General Chaudhry highlighted that since January, Pakistan has conducted over 59,000 operations, resulting in the elimination of 925 terrorists, including 27 Afghan nationals. He also mentioned that 1314 security personnel have been martyred, with 2582 others injured. Regarding the Pahlgam incident, he revealed that thousands of Kashmiris have been detained, and numerous homes bulldozed by Indian forces.

International Concerns and Humanitarian Issues

The United Nations and the United States have expressed concerns over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The UN has urged both nations to exercise restraint, while the U.S. has called for dialogue to prevent further escalation. Additionally, reports indicate that Pakistani citizens residing in India are being deported, adding to the humanitarian concerns.

Pakistan’s Commitment to Defence

Major General Chaudhry concluded by stating that Pakistan is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty. He reiterated that any act of aggression by India would be met with a “befitting response,” and Pakistan’s military is ready to engage on all fronts, including air, land, and sea. He emphasised that the choice of escalation lies with India, but Pakistan will determine the course of action.
