Dera Ismail Khan: A police unit deployed for polio duty came under attack in the Shorkot area of DI Khan on Wednesday, when two unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire on them.
According to police officials, the attack took place within the jurisdiction of Shorkot Police Station. The officers responded swiftly, returning fire and injuring both assailants, who were then taken into custody in wounded condition.
Soon after the incident, SHO Shorkot arrived at the scene with heavy reinforcements. A cordon was established, and a search operation was launched in the surrounding area.
Authorities confirmed the recovery of two pistols, additional weapons, and the motorcycle used in the attack from the suspects. Officials praised the prompt response of the police, stating it successfully foiled the attackers’ sinister plans. An investigation has been launched, and the arrested suspects are being interrogated.
Separately, in a tragic incident in the Tank area of D.I. Khan, a man and his two sons were shot dead in a marketplace. Police have begun an investigation into the fatal shooting.
