Peshawar: Joint Investigation Team Formed Following Deadly Targeted Killing of Religious Scholar

A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been formed to investigate the targeted killing of a religious scholar in Pashtkhara, according to CCPO Qasim Khan. The team includes the SSP Investigation, SP Cantt, and the CTD’s investigative unit. Police confirmed that a report on the incident involving martyred Maulana Ijaz and injured Maulana Shahidullah has been forwarded to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), with the case being registered under terrorism charges.

The investigative team recovered 30 bore shells from the crime scene. Police have stated that the incident is being treated as a targeted killing, with CTD teams also involved in the investigation. Preliminary information suggests that the unidentified assailants were riding a motorcycle, and CCTV footage from various locations is being reviewed to gather further evidence.

It is important to note that last night in the Pashtkhara area, unknown terrorists opened fire on Maulana Ijaz, martyring him and injuring Qari Shahidullah. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits.
