LAKKI MARWAT: In a dramatic standoff, residents of Langerkhel Paka in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district locked eight militants, including a commander of a proscribed outfit, inside a mosque during Maghrib prayers.
According to sources, locals confined the militants, including commander Syed Zaman, in Shah Jahan Mosque after identifying them as members of a group previously declared as ‘Khawarij’ by the state. However, along with the militants, some local residents also became trapped inside the mosque.
Eyewitnesses told Khyber Chronicles that the militants threatened to kill the trapped residents if they were not given a safe passage. Following negotiations with local elders, the militants swore on the Holy Quran that they would never return to the village or cause harm in the future.
