The main suspect involved in spreading false and fabricated news of an explosion at Ziarat Kakasahib on social media on April 1 has been arrested by the Badrashi Police. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2025, and investigations are underway.
According to details, on the evening of April 1, the second day of Eid al-Fitr, a news report went viral on social media claiming that an explosion had occurred at Ziarat Kakasahib. As Ziarat Kakasahib is a popular pilgrimage site that attracts large numbers of devotees, the fake news created panic and fear among the public.
Upon investigation, it was confirmed that no such incident had occurred.
District Police Officer Abdul Rashid directed SDPO, Cantonment Circle, and Ziaullah Khan, SHO of Badrashi Police Station, to take swift action to apprehend the person responsible for spreading the false news and to file a case against them. The investigative team, taking timely action to control the situation, circulated a clarification on social media to refute the false news and used modern investigative techniques to trace the suspect, Azam Khan, son of Abdul Ghafar, resident of Mohalla Piran Pir Sabak. The suspect has been arrested, and a case has been registered under the PECA Act 2025.
The police shared that the investigation is ongoing.
