Afghan Taliban Abandon Border Posts After Pakistan’s Forceful Response in Angoor Adda

Afghan Taliban, Angoor Adda Tensions, Pakistan's Security Forces

Afghan Taliban have abandoned several border posts after Pakistani security forces launched a forceful response to continued unprovoked firing from across the border in Angoor Adda, South Waziristan, the deputy commissioner said.

According to the deputy commissioner of South Waziristan, Afghan border posts continued firing on Pakistani border positions, prompting security forces to target multiple Afghan posts in response.

In a statement, the deputy commissioner said the Pakistan Army responded forcefully to firing from Afghan Taliban checkpoints in Angoor Adda, forcing Taliban personnel to abandon their positions and flee.

No casualties have been reported on the Pakistani side in the latest exchange, he said, adding that Pakistan’s security forces remained fully prepared to deliver a strong response to any form of aggression.

The latest incident follows a deadly cross-border attack on October 27, when Afghan border forces allegedly opened fire and launched mortar shells at Pakistani security posts and civilian areas in Angoor Adda. The attack left one civilian dead and five people injured, while several shops and houses were damaged.

Pakistani security forces subsequently retaliated by targeting multiple Afghan Taliban border posts and defensive positions.

Cross-border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have persisted for months, with border areas witnessing repeated incidents involving gunfire, mortar attacks and drone incursions. The latest exchange adds to concerns over continued aggression along the frontier and the security of communities living near the border.
