Pakistan Rejects Claims of US Naval Operations Against Iran from Its Territory as Propaganda

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has categorically rejected social media claims alleging that the United States Navy is conducting, or has been authorised to conduct, operations against Iran using Pakistani territory. The Ministry has termed these assertions baseless, misleading, and part of a fabricated propaganda campaign aimed at spreading confusion and misinformation.

In its fact-check statement published on the social media platform X, the Ministry clarified that a social media account based in North America had circulated fabricated claims concerning alleged US naval activities and purported Pakistani approval for operations against Iran from Pakistani soil. The Ministry firmly dismissed the allegations, emphasising that the narrative being promoted through the account was unfounded and lacked credibility.

The Ministry further noted that the claims were being amplified across social media platforms in a manner that could mislead audiences, create misunderstandings, and generate unnecessary confusion regarding Pakistan’s position on a sensitive regional security issue. It cautioned against the uncritical circulation of such content, particularly when assertions involving military operations, national territory, and regional relations are presented without credible supporting evidence.

The Ministry underscored the importance of responsible information sharing and urged the public to exercise caution when encountering sensational claims circulating online. In an increasingly interconnected digital environment, unverified narratives can spread rapidly, potentially distorting public understanding of complex geopolitical developments and creating misleading impressions about the policies and actions of states.

The Ministry’s clarification serves as a reminder that social media allegations should not be treated as established facts merely because they are widely circulated or framed as breaking news. Claims concerning military cooperation, cross-border operations, and the use of national territory require credible evidence and confirmation from reliable, authoritative sources before they can be considered factual.

The Ministry has accordingly urged social media users, digital publishers, and other stakeholders to approach such content critically, verify information through authentic sources, and refrain from amplifying fabricated narratives that may contribute to public uncertainty or misinformation.

Pakistan’s position on the matter, as conveyed through the Ministry’s fact-check statement, is clear: the claims concerning alleged US naval operations against Iran launched from Pakistani territory, and purported Pakistani authorisation for such activities, are baseless and should be regarded as fabricated propaganda rather than verified information.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will continue to highlight misleading claims through its fact-checking efforts and encourage the public to rely on credible information when assessing developments involving national security and regional affairs.
