Security forces eliminated six terrorists and wounded another during the first day of Operation Shaban II, launched under the command of FC North to clear and sanitize suspected terrorist-infested areas.
According to security sources, forces cleared a total of 59 square kilometers during the operations, while three clashes were reported. Nine suspected individuals were detained, one terrorist hideout was destroyed, and three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were recovered. Two of the IEDs were defused in time, while the third exploded during an attempted disposal operation. No security personnel were injured or martyred.
In Zawar/Saran Tangi Prong, security forces tracked the movement of six armed terrorists. After monitoring their movement, an SSG block post launched an effective ambush, killing five terrorists and wounding another. The condition of the injured terrorist was not immediately known.
Search and sanitization operations also continued in Sarki Kuch, Sara Kay and other areas. In Mangla, Sara Kay, security forces stopped four suspected vehicles carrying nine suspected individuals.
An IED was recovered from a compound in the area and defused, after which the compound was destroyed.
An IED also exploded during sanitization near Sarki Kuch. However, security personnel and equipment remained safe.
Security forces also effectively responded to long-range firing targeting a block post in Lashkar Prong. No casualties or damage were reported in the exchange.
