At least six attackers were killed during an armed assault on the Kohat Police Lines after a suicide bomber targeted the outer wall of the security facility, causing part of the structure to collapse, according to a senior security official.
The official said the suicide bomber first struck the outer perimeter wall, creating a breach that was subsequently used by the attackers in an attempt to force their way into the police lines.
Security personnel immediately engaged the attackers in an exchange of fire, preventing them from advancing further into the facility. At least three attackers were killed during the ensuing combat, the official said.
The exact number of attackers involved in the assault remains unclear, and security forces are continuing efforts to determine whether additional militants were part of the attack.
Following the breach, security personnel moved to secure the affected area and prevent any further infiltration. The situation remains under close observation as a security operation continues inside and around the police lines.
