Four terrorists, including two local commanders, were eliminated during a successful intelligence-based operation by Special Operations Group (SOG) commandos in Akakhel Hajiano Kalay of Bara tehsil in Khyber district, security sources said.
The operation was conducted a day earlier, during which security forces apprehended a wounded terrorist identified as Ramzan alias Fazal, a resident of Waziristan. He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The terrorists eliminated in the operation were identified as Commander Arab Gul alias Khalid Umar, son of Fazal-ur-Rehman, a member of the Shalobar tribe and resident of Arjali Nadi in Bara; local commander Musa alias Ariana, son of Dunya Gul, also from the Shalobar tribe and Arjali Nadi; and terrorist Muhammad Lal alias Hanzala, son of Jamal, a resident of Tirah Maidan in Khyber.
The fourth terrorist was Ramzan alias Fazal, who belonged to Waziristan.
Security forces have intensified intelligence-based operations in Khyber to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent their regrouping in the district.
