Three Taliban fighters were eliminated and two others wounded when Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) attacked a Taliban outpost in Tagab district of Afghanistan’s Kapisa province.
The attack targeted a Taliban position established at a former Afghanistan National Army base in Tagab, according to information about the operation.
The assault resulted in the elimination of three Taliban fighters, while two others sustained injuries.
The attack highlights continued armed resistance against Taliban rule in areas where the group has established security positions at former Afghan military facilities. Former Afghan National Army bases and other security installations have been incorporated into the Taliban’s security infrastructure since the group took control of Afghanistan.
The latest attack also demonstrates that Taliban control of former military positions does not necessarily translate into uncontested security control on the ground. Anti-Taliban forces continue to target Taliban personnel and positions in different parts of Afghanistan, seeking to challenge the group’s grip and demonstrate their operational presence.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front has been among the armed groups carrying out attacks against Taliban positions in Afghanistan. Its operations have added to the growing security pressure facing the Taliban, particularly as several anti-Taliban fronts have reported increased activity during 2026.
The attack in Tagab comes amid a broader expansion of armed activity against Taliban positions across Afghanistan. Multiple opposition fronts have claimed attacks in different provinces, forcing the Taliban to deploy personnel and resources to protect its positions and maintain control over areas under its authority.
The latest incident therefore adds to the growing pattern of attacks targeting Taliban security personnel and installations, underlining the continuing challenge faced by the group in maintaining its claim of comprehensive control over Afghanistan.
