Terrorists damaged a section of a bridge on the M-8 highway in Khuzdar using explosives, leaving the damaged portion hazardous for traffic and resulting in the death of a motorcyclist and injuries to six others.

According to local sources, the attack targeted a bridge at the Zeri Safed Pahad area, where explosives were used to destroy part of the structure.

The blast left the affected section of the bridge unsafe for motorists and other road users. Poor visibility reportedly made it difficult for a group of motorcyclists travelling from Karkh towards Khuzdar to identify the damaged portion in time.

As a result, the motorcyclists fell into the damaged section of the bridge. Haji Imran died at the scene, while Muhammad Yousaf, Abdul Waheed, Abdul Hamid, Shehzad Ahmed, Shah Zaman and Imran sustained injuries.

The explosion was reportedly heard in Zeri and surrounding areas, triggering concern among local residents.

Following the incident, traffic on the M-8 was partially disrupted as the damaged portion posed a serious risk to vehicles using the highway.

The attack highlights the continuing threat posed by terrorists to vital transport infrastructure in Balochistan. Targeting bridges and highways not only damages public infrastructure but can also put the lives of civilians at immediate risk and disrupt movement along key routes.

Authorities are expected to secure the affected section and undertake necessary repairs to restore safe traffic movement.
