Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has warned that Afghan territory continues to be used for terrorist attacks in Pakistan, stressing the need for collective international action to eliminate terrorism.
Naqvi made the remarks during a meeting with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, during which the two sides discussed cooperation in counter-terrorism, prevention of illegal immigration, police training and mutual legal assistance.
The meeting also included a detailed discussion on the situation in Afghanistan and the activities of banned organisations operating from its territory.
Naqvi said the continued use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan remained a serious concern, stressing that the issue required sustained attention and coordinated efforts.
He said Pakistan was standing as a barrier between the world and terrorism, adding that the complete elimination of the threat required all countries to work together.
The two sides also agreed to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, particularly counter-terrorism and law enforcement, while strengthening mechanisms for legal and institutional collaboration.
The meeting comes amid continued security concerns along Pakistan’s western frontier and Islamabad’s repeated calls for effective action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.
Pakistan has consistently maintained that Afghan territory must not be allowed to serve as a launching pad for terrorism against neighboring countries and has called for concrete measures to prevent cross-border terrorist activity.
