A terrorist wounded during a security forces operation in Khyber district has succumbed to his injuries, sources said, marking another blow to the terrorist network operating in the area.
According to sources, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation two days ago in the Madakhel area of Aka Khel, Bara, following information about the presence of terrorists.
During the operation, two terrorists, identified as Shina and Qari Ariana, were wounded.
Shina remained under treatment after sustaining injuries during the operation but succumbed to his wounds on Tuesday evening, sources said.
The elimination of the wounded terrorist comes as security forces continue intelligence-based operations across Khyber district to disrupt terrorist networks, target their hideouts and prevent them from using the rugged terrain of the former tribal areas to plan attacks.
The operation in Madakhel is part of continued security efforts in Khyber, where security forces have intensified intelligence-led actions against terrorist elements seeking to establish footholds in the district.
Security forces are also maintaining heightened vigilance in the surrounding areas to track down remaining members of the network and prevent any attempt to regroup or escape the ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
The fate and current condition of the second wounded terrorist, Qari Ariana, were not immediately clear from the available information.
