At least three civilians, including two women and a young girl, were martyred after terrorists fired a mortar shell that struck a camp of Kuchi nomads in the Ahmad Wam area of Sararogha, Upper South Waziristan, according to local sources.
The mortar shell landed directly among tents occupied by nomadic families, martyring two women and a young girl on the spot. Five other civilians, including women, children and men, sustained serious injuries. The wounded were shifted to a nearby health facility for emergency treatment, while critically injured victims may be referred to larger hospitals.
Residents described scenes of panic as the explosion ripped through the temporary settlement, damaging tents and belongings. Family members and locals rushed to rescue the injured and recover the victims from the debris as fear spread across the camp.
According to local residents, the latest attack reflects a recurring pattern of terrorist violence in the region, where civilian settlements, villages and nomadic encampments have repeatedly come under mortar fire. Rather than targeting security installations, terrorists have frequently struck unarmed civilian populations, with women and children often paying the heaviest price.
