A suicide attack carried out by Fitna Al Khawarij targeted the main entrance of Kabal Police Station in Swat on Sunday, leaving seven people martyred, including police personnel and civilians, while 18 others sustained injuries.
According to initial reports, the explosion occurred near the main gate of Kabal Police Station, causing partial damage to the entrance. Preliminary findings indicate that the incident was a suicide attack. Officials stated that the Bomb Disposal Squad has reached the scene and is conducting a detailed forensic examination to determine the exact nature of the explosion.
Initial investigations suggest that the suicide attacker was of Afghan origin. Authorities confirmed that the attacker’s severed head was recovered from the blast site, and forensic examination, along with further investigations, is underway to establish the attacker’s identity and gather additional evidence.
All those martyred and injured were immediately shifted to Central Hospital Swat, where emergency medical treatment is being provided to the wounded.
A heavy contingent of Swat Police, led by District Police Officer (DPO) Swat Muhammad Umar Khan, reached the scene immediately after the attack. The area has been cordoned off, evidence is being collected, and security has been tightened to facilitate rescue operations and the ongoing investigation.
The DPO Swat stated that a comprehensive search and clearance operation has been launched across the surrounding area to identify and apprehend any facilitators or accomplices linked to the suicide attacker. Security personnel are conducting targeted operations based on available intelligence to dismantle any support network associated with the attack.
The Bomb Disposal Squad continues to examine the blast site, while forensic experts are collecting evidence to determine the method of attack and assist investigators in identifying those responsible.
DPO Muhammad Umar Khan reaffirmed that all individuals involved in planning, facilitating, or executing the attack would be identified and brought to justice. He emphasized that law enforcement agencies remain fully committed to eliminating terrorist networks and ensuring the safety and security of the people of Swat.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police have reiterated their unwavering resolve to continue operations against terrorist elements and their facilitators until peace, stability, and the rule of law are fully restored across the province.
