A high-level jirga aimed at strengthening public cooperation, enhancing security and reinforcing counterterrorism efforts was held in Washuk, bringing together Frontier Corps Balochistan (South) and local tribal elders.
The jirga was chaired by the Wing Commander of FC Balochistan (South), Kharan Rifles, and attended by prominent local elders and community representatives.
According to officials, participants held detailed discussions on the prevailing security situation, measures to prevent terrorist activities, and the importance of strengthening coordination between local communities and law enforcement agencies.
The meeting also focused on challenges faced by residents and ways to address them through close cooperation between FC Balochistan (South) and the district administration. Participants stressed that timely resolution of public grievances and improved engagement with local communities are essential to denying terrorists any opportunity to exploit local issues.
Officials reiterated that effective counterterrorism requires not only kinetic operations against terrorist networks but also sustained public cooperation, timely intelligence sharing, and strong trust between security institutions and local communities.
The tribal elders reaffirmed their support for the state’s efforts to maintain peace and stability, expressing their commitment to working closely with security forces in safeguarding the area against terrorist threats and anti-state elements.
The jirga concluded with a renewed pledge by both state institutions and local leadership to continue working in unison for lasting peace, improved security, accelerated development, and the welfare of the people, while ensuring that terrorist elements find no space to operate in the region.
